Hand Made Holidays: Baby Bird Bean Bags

I am posting this a day or so earlier than I first expected because I have a very busy week ahead and I figured it would give time to really absorb the cuteness of this first gift.

I found these while searching the web and I wish I could take credit for the idea. I will give  credit to the original blog I found the pattern and idea.

Let's begin my Hand Made Holiday Series for this year!

I was looking for a cute gift to make for a certain little toddler. This fit the bill because it was sturdy, simple, and cute!

Baby Bird Bean Bags

I made these with a combination of old sweaters I had been saving for projects and some nice wool felt.
You can find the original pattern from Captain Crafty HERE.

I enlarged the pattern from the blog. These could easily be hand sewn completely if you do not have a machine. My children loved them so much that they suggested I make some more birds....the kind that really fly through the air. You know, they might even look a bit angry .......

These are very popular in this house! I actually bought some fat eighths of a nice wool to make these birds.
What do you think??

So here is the first idea in my Hand Made Series. You can  make these in an afternoon using scraps you have around the house. This makes them quick and frugal.

Next week I will have something simple and yet very stylish for the knitters. It's easy, so even newbie knitters can make it!

Have a fabulous week!

  1. I think I'm gonna try this one! Jacob loves to throw stuff and I might actually be able to make it.

  2. These are awesome! My son loves birds- can't wait to make them!

How do you think they would do with the cherry pits instead of beans??

  4. Jen, I think you should make some. They were super easy.
Christy, I think cherry pits would work great. You could then use the birds as "boo-boo" birds if you stuck one in freezer to get the pits really cold!

Zoe...your idea was so fabulous! :-)
